English Classes
Intercambio offers one-on-one English classes for non-native English speakers throughout Denver. These classes are affordable and are taught by trained volunteers at public facilities, partner agencies, or students’ homes.
Our Curriculum
Over the last decade, Intercambio Uniting Communities (our affiliate in Boulder) has worked diligently to develop an effective and focused 12 book, 6-level English as a Second Language (ESL) curriculum. The goal is to not only teach English, but also teach important skills for a thriving community. In addition to English grammar and vocabulary, Intercambio’s curriculm also teaches life skills, such as opening a checking account or writing a resume. Each term, students are encouraged to students on class field trips to places like the library, the bank, or the supermarket to increase practical communication skills and resource awareness.
Cost -
$20 to register and $15 for books.
Cost to continue each additional 9–week term is $10 for registration and $10 for books.
Due to the generous support of individuals and foundation grants, we are able to offer scholarships for students who qualify. For those students who do qualify, we can offer the classes either free or at a very low cost.
